Both new PepPools cover the Dengue virus serotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4. These two peptide pools are tailored to stimulate either a CD4 or a CD8 T cell response in humans.
Why Dengue virus research
Over the past two decades, Dengue virus infections have increased significantly in tropical countries, leading to millions of cases each year. This year alone, a major outbreak has been documented in the Americas (Read more). While most infections manifest as flu-like symptoms, severe cases of dengue fever, caused by secondary infection with a different serotype might trigger severe symptoms, such as high fever, bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure, and even death (Sarker et al. (2023)). This virus is transmitted through mosquitoes and belongs to the flavivirus family.
