Product specifications

Intended use

This monoclonal antibody enables specific detection of human apoM in immunoassays such as ELISA, immunoprecipitation and Western blot.

Serum/Plasma samples

Recommendation

M5 is recommended as capture mAb in ELISA in combination with biotinylated detection mAb M7 (product code 3716-6). The antibody is also suitable for immunoprecipitation and Western blot.

Detection of human apoM with mAb M5 in Western blot. 0.1 µl human plasma and 5ng purified apoM in SDS sample buffer were denatured at 70˚C for 10 minutes and run on SDS-page / Western blot. ApoM was detected using 2 µg/ml M5 (biotinylated) followed by SA-ALP and BCIP/NBT-plus substrate.

apoM

Analyte description

Apolipoprotein M (apoM) is a lipocalin mainly produced by the liver. It binds sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), and HDL-containing apoM is the major transporter of S1P. ApoM–S1P is involved in several signaling pathways implicated in the atheroprotective functions of HDL. ApoM has a role in lipoprotein metabolism, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and renal diseases. The normal concentration of apoM in human plasma is approximately 6-60 mg/L.
