Product specifications

Intended use

This monoclonal antibody enables specific detection of the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein in FociSpot immunostaining of virus infected cells. The antibody can also be used in Western blot and ELISA.

Serum/Plasma samples

Applications
FociSpot immunostaining of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid in focus forming assays. Antibody functionality in FociSpot was confirmed using SARS-CoV-2 infected Vero cells.

Functionality in Western blot and ELISA was confirmed using recombinant protein.

FociSpot immunostaining of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid in infected Vero cells. Vero E6 cells were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus (titrated). After fixation and permeabilization, foci were detected using anti-SARS-CoV-2 (N) mAb MTCC25, followed by Streptavidin-ALP and BCIP/NBT-plus substrate. Foci were counted using the Apex software in Mabtech IRIS 2.

SARS-CoV-2 (N)

Analyte description

The nucleocapsid (N) protein is a structural protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It is responsible for packaging the positive-sense RNA genome by forming ribonucleoprotein (RNP) structures with the viral RNA. The N protein is mainly expressed in the host cells' cytoplasm and interacts with the M protein during assembly. The nucleocapsid protein is highly immunogenic and antibodies against it are found in people that recovered from COVID-19. The N protein has been suggested to suppress type I interferon responses.

Alternative namesNucleocapsid protein, N protein (of SARS-CoV-2)
