Product specifications

Intended use

This ELISA Pro kit is intended for the quantification of human IgE in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Serum/Plasma samples

The ELISA diluent included in this kit blocks heterophilic antibodies from cross-linking the assay antibodies, thereby preventing false-positive read-outs. Heterophilic antibodies are commonly found in human serum/plasma and can also be present in other species. The ELISA diluent has been validated using serum/plasma samples from healthy human blood donors.

Selecting the appropriate mAbs is key to detecting both total and antigen-specific human IgA. This blog post explores Mabtech’s mAbs, tailored for ELISpot to detect human IgA antibody-secreting cells.

IgE

Analyte description

The main physiological function of immunoglobulin E (IgE) is to protect against parasitic infestation. However, IgE is also associated with allergy, and allergen-specific IgE antibodies may trigger allergic reactions in the presence of the allergen. IgE is normally found in low amounts in serum/plasma but is significantly increased in allergic individuals, and the detection of allergen-specific IgE serves as the basis for many in vitro assays for allergy diagnosis.
