Intended use

This ELISA Pro kit is intended for the quantification of human apoM in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Serum/Plasma samples

The Apo ELISA buffer included in this kit blocks heterophilic antibodies from cross-linking the assay antibodies, thereby preventing false-positive read-outs. Heterophilic antibodies are commonly found in human serum/plasma and can also be present in other species. The Apo ELISA buffer has been validated using serum/plasma samples from healthy human blood donors.

Apolipoprotein dilution
Apolipoproteins are present at high levels in serum and plasma. For ELISA quantification, such samples must therefore be diluted 5,000-200,000 times depending on the apolipoprotein analyzed.

Shelf life	At least 12 months from date of receipt.

Standard range	0.027-20 ng/ml
Sensitivity	0.01 ng/ml The lowest concentration that can be detected, but not necessarily quantified with precision and accuracy. This was determined by adding 5 standard deviations to the mean OD of background wells.

Analyte description	Apolipoprotein M (apoM) is a lipocalin mainly produced by the liver. It binds sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), and HDL-containing apoM is the major transporter of S1P. ApoM–S1P is involved in several signaling pathways implicated in the atheroprotective functions of HDL. ApoM has a role in lipoprotein metabolism, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and renal diseases. The normal concentration of apoM in human plasma is approximately 6-60 mg/L.
