Amyloid-β

Analyte description

Amyloid-β is a small polypeptide (40/42 aa) that is cleaved from the larger protein APP (amyloid precursor protein). Particularly the oligomeric forms of Ab are believed to play an active role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and Ab fibrils are a major constituent of the amyloid plaques seen in the brain of patients with Alzheimer's.
