CD40

Analyte description

CD40, or cluster of differentiation 40, is a 48 kDa type I glycoprotein with a co-stimulatory function. It belongs to the tumor necrosis factor superfamily and binds to its ligand CD154 (CD40L). CD40 is a receptor expressed on antigen-presenting cells, primarily on B cells being involved in B cell differentiation, class switch, somatic hypermutation, survival and B cell-T cell interactions. CD40 is also expressed on other cell types, including macrophages, dendritic cells and endothelial cells.
