Product specifications

Intended use

This ELISA Pro kit is intended for the quantification of human TNF-α in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Serum/Plasma samples

The ELISA diluent included in this kit blocks heterophilic antibodies from cross-linking the assay antibodies, thereby preventing false-positive read-outs. Heterophilic antibodies are commonly found in human serum/plasma and can also be present in other species. The ELISA diluent has been validated using serum/plasma samples from healthy human blood donors.

Storage

Store detection mAb, Streptavidin-HRP, buffers/solutions, and substrate at 4-8 °C upon receipt. The ELISA standard should be stored at -20 °C. Plates may be kept at room temperature.

Shelf lifeAt least 12 months from date of receipt.
Standard range3.16-1000 pg/ml
Sensitivity2 pg/ml

The lowest concentration that can be detected, but not necessarily quantified with precision and accuracy. This was determined by adding 3 standard deviations to the mean OD of background wells.

Mean standard curve from repeated runs of human TNF-ɑ ELISA Pro kit.

TNF-α

Analyte description

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), also known as TNF-α, is produced by many different cell types, e.g., monocytes, macrophages, T cells, and B cells. Among the many effects of TNF-α are protection against bacterial infection, cell growth modulation, immune system regulation, and involvement in septic shock.
